Fashitorial #8: Super Natural - Spring 2012 Inspiration

(photos via NewHongKongFashion)

Editorial: Super Natural
Publication: Dazed & Confused January 2012

I'm a little gaga over this editorial for the current January 2012 issue of Dazed & Confused. Talk about a flower fantasy explosion. Just the kind of therapy I need right now with the sub zero temperatures here in NY. This magazine always finds a way to make each and every editorial innovative, giving you a SUPER NATURAL feeling that isn't available for purchase. Thanks to this, I'm now having day dreams of frolicking through Fern Gully wearing all the latest and greatest 3D floral prints and pieces from SS12. So get on my level.

More importantly, my friend Bradley Callahan from up and coming label B. Calla made the opening page of the spread! They featured his custom made digital print top that is a sight for sore eyes! Keep close tabs on him this year for future endeavors of utter fabulousity. He's quite the character, as are his creations.  feeling. I guess the name says it all.

Fashitorial #7 Tricks & Treats: Halloween 2011 Edition

(photos via Haute Macabre)

Editorial: Tim Burton's Tricks & Treats
Publication: Harper's Bazaar Magical Fashion issue 2009
Photographer: Tim Walker
Styling: Jacob K, fashion editor
Models: Malgosia Bela, Evelina Mambetova, & Sophie Srej

In spirit of the spooky holiday, I'm revisiting one of my favorite eerie editorials from Harper's Bazaar a few years back right before the MOMA released an amazing exhibition on the works of  the legendary, Tim Burton! In return, he recapped his favorite dark & devious delights from the fashionable runways in Europe. The result? A super luxe editorial featuring some of the most sought after couture pieces from the likes of Margiela, McQueen, Ralph Lauren, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Nina Ricci! The black feathered McQueen dress, Ricci heel-less shoes, and creme Ralph Lauren cape/corpse bride gown are just a few of my picks. Those are on my "I GUESS I'LL BE DREAMING FOREVER" wish list for my closet and will be for quite some time.

To be honest, I can't believe it's already Halloween again. This time last year, I was in LA packing up to move to NYC, but found time out of all the moving to dress up like a crazy 90's raver barbie and prowl the streets of WeHo in my brightly, concocted outfit complete with platform boots and an unhealthy amount of glitter. It feels more like December 31, rather then October 31 with all the snow NYC got over the weekend. I'm glad it cleared up by today and i'm happy to report it's sunny out! I unfortunately skipped out on the annual V Magazine Halloween party last night so I could rest up for today's festivities. Planning on going to the parade in the village with friends this evening and eventually ending up at Dream Hotel to dance the night away with all the ghouls and goddesses! As per usual, i'm throwing a costume together last minute, so we will see what I come up with..

Enjoy!

Fashitorial #6- Red Hot Welch

(photos via Interview)

Editorial: Florence Welch feature in IM Music Issue
Publication: Interview Magaziner, October 2011

Florence Welch from rising band Florence + The Machines gets really artsy for the cover of Interview Magazine for October. She looks simply stunning in sophisticated numbers featuring many patterns, sequins, and leather for the fall editorial. I have always loved her style, and seeing her grow over the last 2 years has been awesome! She is all over the fashion world right now..Most recently being the muse of the latest collection from Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel SS12, and likewise for Frida Giannini for Gucci. Always rocking those waspy red locks that I die for in her red carpet looks. I guess the dog days aren't over..

She's guilty and glamorous for sure!

Fashitorial #5 - Canicule

This is a great editorial for the summer issue of French Vogue! Isabeli Fontana is so captivating. She really embodied the modern Cuban feel and was giving it all for the cover! I'm loving the wild tribute/homage to the 1989 Cuba editorial of Linda Evangelista shot by Steven Meisel.

SO AWESOME!

Leave it to Paris to bring such a flamboyant array of colors and prints to the pages of Vogue! So much better to look at and review then the dull, zero risk, pages of Anna Wintour's Vogue. I really wish she'd up the competition..She's falling between the cracks!

Editorial: Canicule ft Isabeli Fontana + Clement Chabernaud
Publication: Vogue Paris, June/July 2011

The Modern Model Fanzine

Have you heard? LoveCat magazine is the newest high end editorial to hit the NYC fashion circuit. Filled with hi res photos of some of your favorite icons + new models on the scene. You'll be immersed within the likes of Paz, Linda V, Chanel Iman, and more! I was so excited to style a few of the shoots and contribute to the very first piece!

The Summer of Sex Issue

We were going for a very simple, "just woke up and threw my hair up" kind of look, to a capture the models in their natural light. They were quick concepts, but still stand strong alone! I loved the cute commentary at the bottom as well where the models answer a few quick personal questions!

The issue will be available in LA/NYC/PARIS/LONDON/TOKYO.

If you're in NYC, pick it up at the following:

Opening Ceremony
Pat Field's
Gasosian Store

Jackson McNally
St Marks Bookshop

Find all other locations online!

If you haven't seen it yet, or want to see the rest of the issue...check it out online here

PS: While on the subject, read this StyleCaster article ft. Lovecat!

Fashitorial #4- Life on Planet Tilda

(Photos via Wmagazine.com)

This is one of my favorite editorials I've seen in quite awhile. Magazines world wide have been stepping up this year in full force for their monthly fashion spreads. And of course W Mag always brings luxury and haute couture to a new level.. With pieces ranging from small NY based designers like Chris Benz, and couture one of a kinds from the likes of Margiela, Rick Owens, and Stella McCartney..this editorial is one you WON'T want to miss. This is a precursor of whats to come in fashion. I've got such a futuristic war lord feel from looking at these photos. Plus, T Swinton is a woman beyond her years when it comes to style & prescense. Who else do you know that would go bald for a shoot? Only Tilda! She's a beautiful being starring in the wake of controversy.

I absolutely LOVE her.
