Early November

Yowza! What a week it's been. The weather has been a god send here in NYC. Usually around this time, it's already frigid and i'm in need of warm drinks constantly to keep my body from falling into a state of hypothermia due to my Texas roots! :P But luckily, we've had spring-like weather all week long, so i'm enjoying it before I'm stuck inside for the next 4 months hibernating during the cold winters here. And to add to that, i'm ready to bundle up in chunky knits and long trousers for the rest of the season. I'm pretty much over my summer wardrobe until next year. 

Anyways, I spent the entire day roaming around Brooklyn and ended my afternoon in Central Park. The trees are finally changing colors and shedding leaves, which are forming massive piles of colorful foliage all over the place. I love it. This is definitely my favorite time of year on the east coast. Next up, Thanksgiving. And my birthday next month! Sagittarius' are on the verge of being in full effect!

Canal St

I went to the open markets up and down Canal Street the other day and enjoyed wearing my trusty knit out on the town for the first time this year. The weather is cooling down in NY and i'm so excited to start pulling out some of my favorite sweaters for this earl stint of fall weather we're currently having. Usually by October i'm living in cashmere every day, and it's no different this time. Nothing beats a perfect go to piece.

This reminds me...it's time to start coat/trouser shopping...

Feast of San Gennaro

It's definitely that time of year again. I always get so excited for the week after the spring collections every September in NYC. If you're a New Yorker, i'm obviously hinting at the 85th annual Feast of San Gennaro that took place in Little Italy over the last 10 days, and my stomach is still currently recovering.. On the agenda? Traditional Italian food, wine, art, culture, religion...oh and more cuisine to be exact! It's always a great time with friends. And this year was very special embarking the eighty fifth year of the festival. I was sure to get a piece of the HUGE anniversary cake they were celebrating with. Also, if you're looking for a "guido" ladies, you'll be sure to find one here. Of course I witnessed all the usual stereotypes while trotting booth to booth in the streets: your typical Italiano, a crime family, an extremely fat father canoodling pizza & pasta, the Fabio, the old babushka's in head scarfs, and so on. I could keep going forever! Therefore, I'm not sure which is better..the food or the sights? :P So much free entertainment laughing at the ironic situations in life while being surrounded with anything and everything great about Italy.

So for my favorite hole-in-the-wall lasagna, a scoop of gelato, and fresh zappole & canoli..

I'll be waiting!

No place like home

It's officially a week after NYFW came to an end here in the big apple, and i've been in bed sick ever since. I guess all that running around between shows and events wore my body down to the point of getting the flu. UGH! But i'm finally back to myself and am prepping for what the next few months is holding for me. Lots of upcoming projects, traveling, work, etc. I can't wait to share it with you. I've been spending as much time outside as possible while the weather still permits. I love watching the sunset on my roof with good friends. These are the memories i'll hold on to forever. I'll miss this view when I move into my new apt in the next few weeks!

Hard work, good vibes, & positive energy are keeping my sprit alive!

FNO-NYC 090811

As you can see, last night was a crazy dose of fashion, fun, and everything fabulous! FNO is always loco, but they really did it up this year, with so many amazing performances and appearances by the fashionably elite, lots of champagne and goodies, and plenty of limited edition deals. I was a bit colorful to say the least. I paired my amazing Miu Miu pants with a BCBG feathered vest over a vintage button up. Add a few bright accessories and my Marc Jacobs airliner clutch, and that was my look! Definitely a change from my muted colorless look last FNO, what a year does to the fashion brain.. NYC really comes alive during this time of year. The night started out easy at VPL, the entire team looked amazing. It's not a brand I knew too much about, but i'm definitely interested in now. We quickly moved on to all the parties along Grand/Mercer St! (Dirty Durty @ Ash, Alexander Wang, Tim Hamilton @ IF, Kate Spade, Mulberry, Vivienne Tam, Howard Mercer block party, Opening Ceremony carnavale). I met so many awesome people! Especially this 2 woman duo at IF from the blog, IDIOSYNCRATIC FASHIONISTAS. They prove you can be chic and daring at any age! Loved them! There were cameras and people everywhere in the streets. Did a few random interviews with a few bloggers + The Daily front row and got interviewed for a documentary about FNO. Lol maybe i'll see it randomly in the future. Anyways, then we headed over to Patricia Field's/Vezelka. Of course she'd never throw a party without tons of sequins and glitter. I finally got to mingle with this amazing woman. She's so lively and funny in person, I loved it. And her smiley face doo rag - NEED. I always love going to her events as well because it's always a promising crowd of polysexual partiers and fashion mavens. From there it was on to a few more places and then we ended at the Creem Magazine party at Thompson hotel. Ran into so many friends I haven't seen in forever. From there, lets say there was a rooftop + New York style pizza + good jams, and the rest is history! 

(Still sad I never made it to Oak + Teen Vogue block party! :/)

PS: Still couldn't handle being 2 feet away from the "Back to the Future" car last night in front of Nike. I LOVEDDDDDDD that movie when I was younger! And kudos to the tricked out Rag & Bone gun-metal Range Rover! Fierce!
