Third Eye

Finally got around to wearing this Kesh x American Apparel dress I picked up a few weeks back in Dallas. Having worked with Kesh on various fashion projects in the past, I was sad I didn't get to make it to one of her opening parties in LA & NY stores for it. Regardless, I was thrilled to see a familiar American brand collaborate with a talented LA based artist on this project! The final result was a modern twisty take on everyday pieces we all should have in our closets for a cohesive wardrobe (ie. crop top, leggings, ^^ body con dress, baseball cap, tank top). As for accessories, stick with any black essential - I went with my favorite Zara flat forms and a choker I picked up on a random St. Marks crawl a couple years back.

Keeping it cute and simple!

Weekend Acquisitions

CURRENT MUST HAVES: American Apparel skirt + Sparkle &Fade turtleneck/bralette + Cooperative phone case + thrifted belt & sunglasses

I never need an excuse to go shopping or revamp my wardrobe, but it definitely helps. So I was taking full advantage of all the "back to school" sales this past week even though i'm no longer a college student (SMH 0.o) These were some of my favorite additions: I invested in the perfect black tennis skirt, which is almost identical to the pleated one in the post below...But I believe in having every necessary closet staple in black- it's timeless! Stocked up on these great cropped turtle necks - I love them so much, I now have them in 3 colors. Also OBSESSED with mesh everything at the moment hence the new Herve Leger-esque bralette. Top it off with a great belt from Dolly Pythons, a thrifted new pair of shades, and a fuzzy blue phone case to rehash my Clueless life moments.

From the city that never sleeps, all the way to here

Wearing: Virgo mesh top + Silence/ Noise shorts + Brandy Melville crop + Zara shoes

Hat's off to the sportier side of my style, but i'm missing New York like you wouldn't believe at the moment (*hince pointing out the obvious with my look). I love my Texas born and raised roots, but i'm ready to high tail it back to the big city! I crave that constant NYC chaos in my life again. It's all too familiar of a feeling to be so far away. 3 months elsewhere feels like 10 years in most metropolitans. I'll be arriving on the eve of September, just in time to toast to a successful and fabulous fashion week thats to come.

Anyways, back to what I'm wearing..I just recently picked up this barely there mesh crop top from Virgo in DTLA while I was out West, and scored these awesome shorts a week later sale shopping in Dallas. The print is great, and I love the leather trim and zipper fly. It makes the shorts 10x more luxurious to slip into. I've been on the hunt for a great addition to my bottom half in recent months, so i'm definitely gonna get my wear out of these before summer comes to an end. When it came to shooting this, i'm not sure if you've noticed...but i've been fiddling a lot lately with older style cameras and finding that I actually love manuals. The quality of the film is so much more vivid and detailed and it almost manages to envision a story, without actually telling one. Technology is pretty irrelevant when it comes to the physical attributes film possesses.

Ray of White Light

Wearing: Sparkle & Fade dress + Zana Bayne harness (similar here) + Ray Ban sunglasses

I'll never get enough of the scenic backdrops Texas has to offer. From rolling hills, to rocky canyons, to massive rich green fields that seem like they end where the sun meets the horizon. It makes coming home a treat for the soul when I need a little personal space from being in the city for too long. The weather has been blazing hot down South, so layers aren't really an option. So, over the last few weeks since i've arrived, I've just been opting for simple outfits that need a little accessorizing - insert simple day dresses, playsuits, or the tiniest of crop tops with my favorite distressed denim (which are each individually perfect for summer's all night affairs)! This little white number is very reminiscent of Alexander Wang's monochromatic cut-outs from his SS13 collection. I gave the look a little edge with my favorite harness from NYC' It Girl Zana of Garbage Dress.. the play on play of textures gives my Tuesday a little more excitement.

Also, I must add, i've never had so much fun with a dress, I can't help but laugh every time I walk down the street - swishing my bottom half back and forth due to the extreme amount of pleating!

Saturday Simplicity

(Wearing: FLAMINGO VINTAGE top & purse + Zara pants & heels + Free People bralette + Ray Bans)

Here's another variation of one of my favorite quick outfit formulas.
Crop top + skinny pants + pumps = ON THE GO PERFECTION.

Enjoying a few weeks off in Texas, headed back to NYC at the end of the month!
It's almost time for NYFW SS14 collections! Can't wait to see whats in store this season. The city really comes alive during the festivities!

Daytime dapper

(Wearing: FLAMINGO VINTAGE dress, belt, & bag + Zara pumps + Ray Ban sunglasses)

Currently perfecting the art of casual styling of my night time essentials into my day looks.
It was love at first sight with this idyllic 1970's romanticist gown with a sheer neckline and sleeves. I figured pairing it with this ultra luxe crocodile waist belt & clutch combo was a no brainer.

Since I  prefers an easy transition, i'll just add an overcoat, a set of earrings, and a nice up do to turn this day in the city, into a night on the town!
