Blog Me!

Last night I attended my friend Jessica Conatser's launch party for her new blog, Nympatically Haute (an up and coming expose on the unequivocal addiction fashion mavens share with their clothes among other things). It was a cute and quaint BBQ + affair on a private rooftop in TriBeca! I was surrounded by about 30-50 familiar social media influencers/bloggers in and around the industry. Our pal's band, The Jetts wooed us with some timeless rock and roll sound for what started a late night dance party with old friends & new friends..When I got home, I was going through my gift bag and saw this cute necklace that the team over at In God We Trust NYC made especially for each of us at the event. It's a tiny heart chip hanging loose on a gold chain that say's "Blog Me"!

I couldn't agree more! ;)

Thanks again to Belvedere Vodka & IGWT NYC for sponsoring the party! The cocktails and jewelry made it extra fabulous!

Hot Pink Pusher

(Vintage button-up, Charlie by Matthew Zink pants, Steve Madden wedges, Louis Vuitton sunglasses, DIY splatter painted bag)

I love the way these pants offset the print of my shirt. They clash, but in a good way I think. And these Steven Sprouse for Louis Vuitton sunglasses are still the bomb, definitely bringing these back out with this recent neon obsession in fashion. I remember how crazy everyone went over that collaboration a few seasons back. The graffiti bag and shoes were a must have.

I've been scrambling around ever since I got back to NYC, and am trying to quickly plan a month long adventure to Europe. Lets hope everything works out for me! I'm dying do document London & Paris fashion week + just be immersed in Euro! Oi Vey!

Natural

I'm currently at the longest length in my hair growing process and i'm loving the results. It's so funny how when I was 16, I spent so much time in the mirror fixing my hair and nobody would ever compliment me on it, but my natural curls are a showstopper. Definitely keeping these locks for a while.
Hence the sepia tint on photo, I'm also a little too obsessed with instagram on my phone. It's so addicting! I'm currently prepping for Hurricane Irene in NYC. It's a little haywire in the city, after just dealing with an earthquake a few days ago! Wish me luck! And everyone in the apple, please stay safe!

ALL MY LOVE!

Out of Focus

(DKNY denim shirt, Levi's shorts, Zara boots + vintage spike/head wrap/bag, Kimchi Blue necklace)

Lately, I've been looking to some of my favorite hip hop icon's of the 90's for inspiration. What can I say? Whats not to love? With a mix of street style, cultural influence, and personal flare..it quickly caught on and has FINALLY been recognized almost 20 years later for how genius it really was. Fashion in the 90's was super flamboyant and is definitely a representative element of my style.

Take note!
It wasn't just another decade, but a legendary era...
Get into it!

Fashitorial #5 - Canicule

This is a great editorial for the summer issue of French Vogue! Isabeli Fontana is so captivating. She really embodied the modern Cuban feel and was giving it all for the cover! I'm loving the wild tribute/homage to the 1989 Cuba editorial of Linda Evangelista shot by Steven Meisel.

SO AWESOME!

Leave it to Paris to bring such a flamboyant array of colors and prints to the pages of Vogue! So much better to look at and review then the dull, zero risk, pages of Anna Wintour's Vogue. I really wish she'd up the competition..She's falling between the cracks!

Editorial: Canicule ft Isabeli Fontana + Clement Chabernaud
Publication: Vogue Paris, June/July 2011

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at The Met

For those of you who weren't able to make it to NYC to see the Savage Beauty exhibition honoring Alexander McQueen at the Met, here are some of the highlights. (Please excuse the grainy photos, you weren't allowed to bring in any professional cameras or cell phones inside, so..) I was lucky to snap photos of some of my favorite pieces through out the presentation.

The experience in itself is definitely one I won't be able to forget. Besides waiting in line for close to 5 hours total (no BIG DEAL) and dealing with the mass crowds of tens of thousands of people during the closing weekend, it was without a doubt, my favorite gallery setting to ever lay eyes on. Every single piece spoke for itself. There were no words to describe the dark, emotional tone that was carried on through out. It was cut off into 5 miniature sections, each focusing on a specific visual process he experienced during his design career. I was definitely moved by the craftsmanship and the story each collection told on it's own. There are very few designers in today's world that look at clothes past the marketing perspective of it being "a piece to add to your closet", rather than a work of art. McQueen defined and paved the path for a new generation of fashion artistry.

My favorite part was definitely the set up of a glass prism triangle inside a box with a 3D image of Kate Moss floating effortlessly in one of his beautiful gowns. The world and science really has changed over the last 20 years. And I feel like our generation gets to experience some of the coolest technological advances the world has ever seen and this was one of them! I also loved the reinterpretation of his mirrored box collection from Spring/Summer 2001.

Knowing that this is the last time i'll ever get to see the archived pieces of his previous shows, I couldn't leave without a parting gift... so I bought the collector's edition book they were selling! The front cover is the sickest holographic photo of Lee! It's a basic head shot but when you shine it in the light, it turns into one of his skull references from his final collection. AMAZING. After staying up all night reviewing the book after I didn't get home til 2am from show, I came to the conclusion..It's basically a more in-depth, detailed viewing of the exhibit + full of hi-res images, memorable quotes, and everything McQueen. Definitely a keep sake and another addition to my growing plethora of fashion coffee table reads!
