Navajo

Been so warm in Dallas this week, I haven't got to wear half of what I brought due to a change of weather unexpectedly. Piling on lots of jewelry lately, all about natural elements like stone, rocks, crystals, etc. Stocked up on so many great accessories while I've been here. LA on Friday for awhile.

Hello sunny California.

Judas Juda-a-a

Personally, I'm not the one to EVER obsess about her music. I think some of it is pretty over done for the attention and shock value it brings. I'll always appreciate the expression of art, fashion, and music...but sometimes it's too much. BUT I'M GOO GOO FOR GAGA with this track and new sound she's going for. Love the video, love the fashion, and love the song!

And she's probably got every diva red in the face in the background saying "WHERE IN THE HELL IS MY BEJEWELED CROWN..? THAT BITCH."'
I know I am! ;)

The biker chic, flying chola nun from the Renaissance era that teleported to 2011
Got that?

She's got me saying Judas Juda-a-aaaaaa!

HAVE FAITH IN FASHION!

STEP & REPEAT

Now everyone knows when you go purchase a nice piece (shoes, bag, ready to wear, etc.) to add to your closet, you're more then likely going to plan on getting your money's worth out of it. Everyone does! Unless you're Anna Dello Russo or some other couture headshot that can wear a piece once and not think twice about repeating it....ahem.

Anyways, since my fashionably convenient photographic memory retains the last 10 years of collections (by choice) from the likes of my favorite designers like some chic encyclopedia..I can't help but pull amazing looks from several years ago and pair them with some of the newest trends to date. It's a quick way to mix and match, allowing new outfit choices to surface. Also, I think it makes your wardrobe stand above many by using the unique approach of pairing the past with the present..

(But BEWARE to use this advice with caution. *It's also the reason I can't get rid of so many older items I barely even attempt to wear AND my closet tends to look like closing day at a Barney's warehouse sale. ;)

But as the days grow warmer here in the South, and my daily wardrobe starts to become more minimal due to weather...i'm finding that tote bags are a HUGE essential for me. I cant stand carrying a huge, black leather bag everywhere in close to 100 degree heat. But at the same time, nobody wants to carry some lame screen printed jersey throwaway either.

My solution:

Spice it up a little bit with a great carryall from the past! Bags are priceless items. A new series comes out every season, but they never go out of style. Lately, I've personally been drooling in remembrance of the Louis Vuitton Spring 2004 Ambres Cabas Neo collection of summery statement bags a little more appropriate to season...

The shape is perfect! And it's a classic encore to one of the best designer bag retailers.

Just to make it clear, I never owned it in the first place. And even though it's from close to 10 years ago...I'd die to purchase it now for summertime! It's so easy to pair with and large enough to throw all of your belongings in when you're running out the door! Not to mention it's made of PVC, so it's nearly impossible to destroy or get dirty. And i'm obsessed with see through plastic and lucite at the moment! So, the only downfall could be presentation..so I hope you're tidy when it comes to the exterior of your bag...It's out there for the ENTIRE world to see. Lipstick, wallet and all! It's your little monogramed peek a boo pouch! ;)

*I'm pretty sure this is the first time I saw it after it came out...On this old Kanye video with my favorite Clueless star running aimless and retardedly through the airport. But all you get from the video is..FIERCE BAG!! I NEED!

There is a few other great beach-like bag's i'd tote around from the luxury standards of Balenciaga, Jil Sander, and Barney's! But this is the deal breaker for me! BUT JUST FOR TEASER, this is another amazing carry-all! I know I just did my whole spill about huge leather bag in summer, bla bla bla. But....IT'S CELINE.

Timless and luxurious! I'll take one in every color. ;)

And I know a bag like this can be pricey, but it's guaranteed to last. I'm definitely a quality over quantity type. And like my mother always said...

"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, END OF STORY!"

Superstitious

F R E A K Y  F R I D A Y ?

It's Friday the 13th, for those of you who have avoided the alert or aren't up to date with your calendars! And unlike some crazy slasher killer thriller...it's a beautiful day here in Texas! I'm headed to go enjoy it and work on few upcoming projects for my blog! I've also came across some new gem locations for amazing vintage - maybe ill check those out and press my luck for some mystical finds today! :)

In honor of today's freaky stature, I figured i'd do some research on the event to make myself more aware  of the event in it's entirety! I'll sum it up quickly:

Friday the 13th occurs when the thirteenth day of a month falls on a friday, which superstition holds to be a day of bad luck.

13 has always been an unlucky number in the eyes of the people. Thats why many terminals at airports wont have a thirteenth gate, many hotels/offices won't have a thirteenth floor and so on. It's also fills any old fashioned superstition void like black cats, the physical number 13, open ladders, opening umbrellas indoors, etc!

The term that relates to the fear of this day is called friggatriskaidekaphobia. According to the US Stress Management & Phobia Institute, they're are between 17-21 million people affected by this today. Some people are paralyzed by fear so much, they avoid their normal routines on this day or will steer clear of certain activities just to be sure NOTHING happens.

It doesn't help with the chain of cheesy 80's slasher killer movies that came out glorifying the scary fear! Now you no longer have to fear 13, but you might wanna fear Jason just a bit if he's ever crawling around in your basement! ;)

The superstition even roots all the way back to the biblical times. Legendary traitor in the bible, Judas, was said to be Jesus' 13th guest at the Last Supper. Another theory of the origin dates back to 1118 in Jerusalem around the event of the arrest of the Knights Templar. (An interesting story if you have time to google it, and read it! :))

They're are conflicting studies about the rate of acccidents that occur on this day. All in all, the CVS have taken note that less "freaky" events occur on the actual day in recent years because people are more cautious and aware of their surroundings to prevent such happenings, while others run amuck in excitement of the spiritual day of fun! I am one of them!

I love being in touch with my witchy senses, takes me back to my childlike curiosities and imagination, just for the day!

Get your SPOOK on!

MET BALL CHIC

Last week was the annual Met Ball (the Oscars of the fashion world for those who don't know about it) held in NYC. This year it was paying homage to the late Lee Alexander McQueen who passed last year. It was the opening of the new tribute exhibition of some of his most iconic, memorable looks over the years and it's the one time a year to really take it OVER THE TOP! Stella McCartney was spotlighted as the honorary designer of the year during the ceremony. She also happened to design 2 of my favorite dresses of the night!!

These were my top 5 picks from the event..

1. Christina Ricci in Zac Posen

I absolutely LOVE this dress. It's so avant garde, and she's always embodied that darker image behind all of her looks, and this just nails it to the floor! I love the cut and how extravagant the train is. This is WEDNESDAY ADAMS couture. SO IN LOVE..

2. Jennifer Lopez in Gucci

This is from the latest F/W 11' collection from the fashion house. The color is so on point! Red was the trending color for the fall season on the runways. And this runway to reality look was amazing! She is so stunning! Definitely aged gracefully over the years. She was banging at 25, but 2011 is her year!

3. Florence Welch in Yves Saint Laurent

I'm not sure what i'm more into, the fact she's wearing vintage YSL or her gorgeous strawberry locks! She's new to the world of entertainment and fashion, but being the singer of new indie rock band, Florence + the machines has gotten her more then just a "little" attention. She's the next muse of couture!

4. Madonna in Stella McCartney

WHAT CAN I SAY? Minus the fact, she's wearing Stella McCartney who was honored at the ball for her design efforts, Madonna is killing it, and she's in her 50's! She's a looker and this color is gorgeous and not easy to pull off!

5. Daphne Guiness in Alexander McQueen

A lot of critics said she looked like she killed an ostrich, but honestly..if you cant appreciate the art of couture then WHY are you at the MET BALL? I mean c'mon, not only is this a WORK OF ART, it's a TIMELESS dress. It's McQueen, and the craftmanship and hours that went into this one garment comes together beautifully. I LOVE IT.

THESE WERE MY 2 OTHER PICKS THAT ALMOST MADE IT, BUT I JUST HAD TO LET GO:

Liv Tyler in Givenchy Couture

This is a great gown, and I loved this entire collection from Givenchy! (Especially the Philip Treacy head pieces that were also made specifically for this presentation) But I thought her hair and makeup was lacking. I think a simple up do would have given a better balance to the look as a whole. It takes away from the dramatic neckline and distracts you as you look at the gown.

Rihanna in Stella McCartney

This is such a beautiful piece from Stella, but i'm sick of this ongoing look that Rihanna pulls with trying to look provocative and graceful in an expensive must have item and still show half her ass and goodies to the ENTIRE world. I have no problem with nudity, but KEEP YOUR GOODIES to yourself. Those are for private encounters, not the entire fashion council of NYC.

WHO DO YOU THINK WAS BEST DRESSED?
