NYE 2010 (one and only)

So it's officially New Years Eve, and i'm currently on a flight from Boston to NY. I feel as if there is some silent thought that goes through everyone's mind on this day. Because I've been reflecting on the past year of my life all morning. So many things happen in a year. I mean, it's 365 LONG days, and it goes by so fast..but when you really think about it. it's a lot of time that passes by. There are many things I'm thankful for like my friends, family, and being able to be in the wonderful world of fashion. It's the reason I wake up in the morning, and what I go to bed thinking about. It's a drive and a passion, and i'm so happy to have found that key factor that makes me feel complete in life!

It's been a some good, some great, a little bit of bad, but overall fulfilling year. I'm ready for 2011 and happy to have made it this far in my journey. I'm now 21 years old living in one of the greatest cities in the world and cant wait for the new excitement I'll get to experience within the new year.

As cliche as it sounds, of course i've been thinking about my new year's resolutions..and this year i've got plenty to be wishful for! My thought process works a little bit different then most, and age and time is very precious to me. And I feel like now i'm at the age where time really does make all the difference and I want to know I did everything possible for myself! So if it's the last thing I do, I WILL STICK TO MY RESOLUTIONS THIS YEAR. I'm not making goals I can't keep! Some are funny compared to others, but all important for me personally! :)

First off,

I want to go back to a strict, healthy diet. Back to being a pescatarian. So only fish, along with all the other healthy goodies like fruit and veggies.

Take my vitamins, every day! I seem to feel a lot more balanced when I take them. So it's a necessity for me.

NO SODA'S. Growing up in Texas, I developed a sweet tooth early on for good ol' fashioned Dr. Pepper, i must break this habit..so i'm not a sugar freak!

I want to attend fashion week in either London, Paris, or Milan rather it's for the A/W 11' shows in a couple of months, or the spring 12' shows in September. Only hard work and time will tell! :)

Take over the fashion industry by storm in 365 days. I feel as if our generation is so technological and full of free thinkers, and our perspective is very vital to the industry!

Want to take off doing freelance styling or working for a great magazine! Rather it's something new, or if I take an internship at Elle Magazine that I talked about doing in the fall!

Last but not least, I want to start an accessory line. I know this takes work and patience, but I would like to at least get it started in 2011!

Now reflecting back on the past year of my life…there have been plenty of great things to mention:

I started my blog, CRIMES OF FASHION, which is one of my more personal but positive acheivements

Attending LA fashion week for both A/W 10' and Spring 11' collections

Attending my first NY fashion week in September + all the crazy parties that I attended ( Purple party, A Wang Circus party, Pop magazine party, Dirty durty mag party @ Don Hills, ++ more)

Interviewed by StyleLikeU about my personal style

Seeing Anna Dello Russo during fashion week, she's one of my icon's..so it was a MAJOR deal.

Networking and meeting lots of contacts in both LA & NY.

Moved to NYC to further my career in fashion

Styled a shoot featuring Eli Roth for Blackbook Magazine

Styled Acid Girls music video

Did fitting/lookbooks for both Howl Klothing and Weltenbuerger Vintage

Attended Nylon's Young Hollywood Issue dinner + party with Peaches Geldof

Documented the madness of Coachella 2010 + parties

Traveled all over the east coast for the first time..

Did a bunch of cameo's and filming with Bravo/VH1 for upcoming reality show about my boss Lori Hopkins of Envision Glam

+ more things that have recently came about that cant be mentioned just yet..but will be soon! :)

and last but not least..met a bunch of amazing, inspiring people who I will carry with me into the new year!

I'm hoping this upcoming 2011 will have triple the accomplishments and will really be a good year for not just me, but everyone! I'd also like to thank my readers who have started following my blog and keep coming back for more! I really appreciate all of you! I hope we can meet someday!

Well.. this is starting to get long, and my fingers are starting to cramp! I'll leave it at that!
Everyone have a safe, prosperous, happy NYE. And i'll see you all in the new year!

GLOOM

It's raining here in Texas, and i'm doing last minute packing before I leave to fly back to NYC in a few hours. I miss the city, and am excited to come back. I'm not sure which is better for extreme weather..the cold, windy rain here in the south or the massive amounts of snow and blizzard like temperatures in NY. The end of the year is just a few days away and i'm thinking back on all the things that have happened this year. So crazy to see how fast time flies by. I'm more then ready for a new year full of new excitements and events. 2011 should be a great year, at least we can all hope! :)

I'm currently reminiscing back to my favorite collection from the late McQueen

FALL 2009: A Twisted Fantasy

It's really matching my mood today...

DARK & GLOOMY

This was such an innovative collection that really proved McQueen to be a true designer. He was a visionary who could work with whatever materials possible and still make a woman look beautiful and glamorous. He's achieved style in so many different lights over the years. Following him every year as a designer was like a step into a different story each time. This is a story I visit often..

I've been referring back to so many collections lately for reference. I'm just overwhelmed with glamour.

IT'S A NEED, NOT A WANT!

MERRY CHRISTMAS A'LA JIL SANDER

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm currently in Texas visiting my family for the holiday season! But just because I come visit home doesn't mean I leave my fashion sense at the door. I try and still get dressed in the same order as I would if I was in LA, NY, or going to an event. (Even though the general public doesn't understand or appreciate my style here >.<)

Lately I've been taking a lot of reference from the Jil Sander menswear collection from Spring 2011. The color blocking skills with mono-chromatics are amazing! I've liked it ever since I first saw the runway reports on Style.com when they surfaced!

Although I'm not working with pastels and neons, I still found the technique effective with the use of primary colors! and this was the outcome..

(Vintage peacoat, Calvin Klein wrap dress, Zara equestrian pants, Dr. Marten boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs airliner clutch)

Watch some of the show below, and try it with some of your spring choices! It can be projected by men or women..it's all about how you visually see it for yourself! :)

F E V E R

What can I say? Prada has ALWAYS been one of my favorite household names. It's undyingly chic and statuesque on it's own, not to mention it's KILLER womenswear. Muiccia has been schooling these other designers for quite some time now, and I finally think she's topping it for me...Especially after that SS11 show in  Milan with all the prints and colors. She's too good at winning me over in recent years. I mean don't get me wrong.. I love my dark, edgy brands like Gareth Pugh, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, and the list could go on...but nothing can make a woman look more beautiful then head to toe in the devil herself! ;)

Sign me up please! And get me those martian-like cat eye glasses in white NOW. I'm pretty obsessed with this entire fancy alien girl with a cone head up do look. Confusing enough?

And what a coincidence that my two favorite ad campaigns she's ever curated are both for the same year! 2011 is going to be fashionable and FABULOUS.

Check out the SS ad campaign! I'd love to be this girl, she's head to toe in haute and droppin' it low! Welcome to my spring wardrobe coming early! :)

Here is the fashion show in Milan from that season! :)

This is basically one of my reoccurring dreams i've been having for years. If you could only imagine the outfits and the set up.

If Prada dressed me like Tupac with an urban flare..i'd look like this!

BIRTHDAY/CHRISTMAS DIE HARD WISHLIST 2010

I figured i'd compose a list of want's for the holiday season. Since my 21st birthday is tomorrow, and Christmas is only 8 days away...I'M ALWAYS THE UNLUCKY ONE WITH A COMBINED PACKAGE DEAL! >.<

But I usually make a short, simple list composed of like 10-12 items because I really focus on getting the good stuff around this time of year! And to add to that, I like to get the items that will last me ALL year till the next stocking stuffer holiday. Granted I know I will never end up with all these amazing pieces, but it's fun to think I might actually end up with them! :) I'll call my letter to santa..

12 days of XXXmas by a fashion fiend:

Alexander Wang Tasha Boots

(Maybe I could walk better if I was 7inches off the ground)

Large Arty brass cuff with Coral detail

(Maybe I'd ALWAYS be safe with my shield of YSL armor)

Zara Knit trouser with cuffs

(Maybe I could be chic on the days when I never wanna get out of sweats in my room)

RAD by Rad Hourani sheer top

(Maybe I could party with Courtney Love in Rad Hourani)

Long, oversized belted dress

(Maybe I could actually stay warm in these NYC extreme cold temperatures with a Zara floorlength)

Hermes Elixir Des Merveilles eau de parfum

(Maybe I would attract people with the scent of Hermes on my wrist)

Chanel J12 quartz watch

(Maybe I would never be late to anything if Chanel always told me the time)

Givenchy Antigoda duffle

(Maybe I would never FORGET anything if I could throw it all in my Givenchy duffle)

Double cage ring with hinge

(No maybes on this want, it's just a need!!!)

Oak exotic leather aviator cap

(Maybe I could join a fashion biker cult if I had an Oak aviator cap)

Sally LaPointe printed neoprene shrug

(Maybe I could start the Star Trek couture revolution in Sally LaPointe)

Chronicles of Never black choroid plexus shades

(Maybe I could stand up Anna Wintour with my new shades of the future)

Carin Wester Melody jacket

(Maybe I could venture to space in Carin Wester)

+++

money for vintage sprees!

For the price of the above list I could buy two whole franchises full of second hand finds waiting to be worn again! LOL

All my friends know my closet is full of vintage, second hand shop, and treasures from goodwill mixed in with iconic one of a kind pieces!

Let's hope Old Saint Nick is packin' this year!

First look at Givenchy SS11 campaign!

via google.com

These are the first images to surface to the press for the new Givenchy SS11 advertising campaign by the famed creative director of the label, Ricardo Tisci. The feature includes the newest popular albino model, Stephen Thompson + Daphne Groeneveld, Mariacarla Boscono, and Iris Strubegger. I love the overexposed lighting and the haute couture vibe. And shot by one of my favorite photographers..Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. I appreciate the high end appeal they're giving. It's a great balance for the finished product. It isn't to the level of being gaudy, so everyday people can appreciate it.. Not only is Givenchy one of my favorite fashion houses, I also really appreciate Tisci's opinion  in the industry. He's not afraid to take risks and do anything needed to create his vision. Last season it was transexual models, now moving to an albino model! Whats next, a mutant alien?

CURRENTLY OBSESSING OVER:

Daphne Guinness

I've been a follower and fan of her for years for her courageous fashion efforts and anything and everything fierce. She's the one fashion icon I know of who is always expected to step it up and out and always turns a head.

She's officially on twitter!

From a different angle

(H&M cowlneck sweater, Pashmina cashmere scarf, thrifted distressed leather jacket, Wilson's leather skirt, Costume Dept leggings, Target unique fishnets over leggings, Dr. Marten boots, Kenneth Cole backpack)

I figured instead of taking traditional documentation of my outfits, I would zoom in on the details and focal points of my look. I take a lot of inspiration for what I wear from personal interpretations of my dreams and inspiration I take from the city around me. I'm a firm believer that getting dressed in the morning shouldn't just be a daily routine, but an adventure to wherever you want to take yourself. Just like James said in the movie Party Monster.."Honey, if you feel like a troll, then you should look like a troll!"
