Ricardo Tisci dropped Givenchy's latest Resort 2012 collection in New York yesterday and the buzz is already filling. Think Hawaii Five-O meets contemporary design perspective. He used digitally altered Hawaiian Hibiscus floral prints and mirrored them horizontally and vertically for a trippy looking print used on many of the pieces this season :) I love all the accessories like bowler bags, visors, and chunky leather sandals. It's vibrant with color and fresh with taste. Just what you need from the Resort collections this time of year. It was brought to you by some of the top girls in the modeling industry at the moment. The familiar beautiful faces of Saskia de Brauw, Joan Smalls, and newest Sudan recruit, Ajak Dehn!
Tisci followed his usual pattern when it came to the progression of his presentation. He always takes emphasis on one major subject and expresses it throughout, with a few simple solid pieces in the middle, and then extremely intricate and blossoming towards the end.
I've been seeing a major botanical/floral/Hawaiian-esque trend the last 2 seasons on the runways. I love this look...It's got a vintage glamour feel to me, but could be for many different types of women. Edgy and fierce, but retro and always classy!
So, what's next for Tisci? What will be his inspiration for Couture, S/S 12', and F/W 12'? I cant wait to see whats in mind for the future..I've been head over heels for him for the past few years, and it's like a fine wine...it gets better with time! There have been rumor mills that he might take head over at Dior! Will this be one of the last legendary shows by Tisci for the French fashion house? Let's hope not. I love his idea for how Givenchy should stand as a luxury brand and global image..
Both hands up for the house of Givenchy!
xx
